Important Quality Alert
Dear Valued Customer,
The safety and integrity of our products is central to the mission of Dixon Valve & Coupling Company, LLC (hereafter “Dixon”).
A customer recently reported receiving two pieces of Air King fittings lacking holes necessary for safety clips. Upon learning of this occurrence, Dixon undertook a complete review of all Air King pieces in inventory, both domestic and global. Based on the results of our review, we believe this affects a small percentage of pieces, and Dixon has removed the affected pieces found in our inventory.
Nevertheless, we feel it is necessary to notify you that certain Air King fittings shipped to distributors may not meet Dixon quality standards and function as designed and intended. A small percentage of the Air King fittings may have been shipped without the holes necessary for safety clips. You are being notified because of your past purchases.
To avoid potential property damage or injury, it is important that purchasers conduct inventory and field inspections of the fittings to determine whether they contain the holes necessary for safety clips. It is our hope that customers would have noticed any absence of holes at installation or when the end user used the product and tried to install the safety clip.
If the fittings do not have holes, please remove the fittings from inventory or take them out of service to return to Dixon. Please contact us for a Return Goods Authorization and a credit will be issued.
Enclosed with this letter is a Warning that must immediately be sent to all purchasers of the fittings. Alternatively, if Dixon is provided with the contact information for purchasers of the products, Dixon will notify such persons directly.
Should you need further information or have questions, please contact Jim Bansbach, Vice President of Research & Development at Dixon, at (410) 778-2000.
Dixon strives to ensure that all fittings of this type thoroughly meet all Dixon quality standards. We apologize for the need for this quality alert, but Dixon is committed to providing the best quality product available.

Check for Air King Clip Holes
Standard Safety Clip
Dixon Part No. AC1
(to be used with Air King fittings)
Please remember that an Air King safety clip or wire type retainer is necessary to ensure Air King fittings will not become accidentally disconnected. Use of the safety clip guarantees the fittings are properly connected because the safety pin will not go through the holes in mating fittings until couplings are locked in place. Only one Air King safety clip or wire type retainer is required for each Air King fitting.
While safety clips provide one layer of protection, Dixon also recommends using a King safety cable as an additional layer of protection in case a hose, coupling or clamp fails, or there is an accidental separation of an assembly. King safety cables reach across the hose fittings to provide standby safety for hose. The appropriate cable should be used for the application, whether it is hose-to-tool or hose-to-hose.
Sincerely,

James J. Bansbach
